Glenrosa Middle School – Lana Donaldson
Harmony Day 2018 was celebrated over three days at GMS. Day 1: Pay it Forward Tickets – students did something nice for a fellow student and then gave them a ticket to pay it forward to the next person. Day 2: Students decorated a friend's locker in celebration of kindness and harmony. Day 3: There was a school draw from the "Pay It Forward" activity.
Hudson Road Elementary – Jen Adamson
HRE held a Harmony Day Assembly at 10:30 a.m. They also participated in a community art project, creating and attaching painted wooden hearts along the outside fence, creating a beautiful and colorful display.
Peachland Elementary – Kevin Auclair
Harmony Day 2018 was kicked off with Kindness Week at PLE. Students also participated in Harmony Day activities throughout the week culminating with an assembly at the end of the week to show the Harmony Day video. There were various class performances as well as a performance by the school choir.
Rose Valley Elementary – Kumi Nittel
At 9:50 a.m. RVE students celebrated with a Harmony Day Torch Run on the lower field (in celebration of Harmony Day and the Olympics). The students also created Harmony Day bookmarks for the Find and Seek Harmony Day Bookmark Challenge. Every student in the school was given a different bookmark and then at lunch and recess needed to go find who the bookmark belonged to. Once the students found each other, they went to the Harmony Day Photo Booth to have their pictures taken. Around the school, students also displayed flags that represented their classroom values.
Rutland Elementary – Halle Ripple
There was a Harmony Day Assembly at 10:30 a.m. RVE students were dressed in their traditional culture/ heritage clothing.
South Rutland Elementary – Carrie Herbert
A potluck lunch was held at 11:00 a.m. Families shared a dish from their heritage/ culture. After lunch, the school held a Harmony Day Assembly which included poetry, songs and a short video.
Spring Valley Elementary – Susan Stevenson
On Tuesday, February 27th, 2018, SVE hosted their annual Harmony Day Tea. They held a Cultural Assembly at 12:15 p.m., followed by an International Tea where families shared food and tea from their cultural background.
